Your child is at the important stage of transitioning from elementary school to high school. At Carroll Christian, we don’t get caught up in the biased view that adolescence imposes problems. Sure, this is a challenging stage that necessitates a unique approach. The physiological changes in your child no doubt affect his or her academic, social, and emotional development.
That’s why we carefully consider each child. Understanding that they are no longer little children yet are not yet teenagers, we seek to nurture and mentor these young adolescents in a way that fosters their growing interests. We offer a variety of meaningful and engaging learning experiences that help prepare them for high school.
Changing classes for each subject is new to our middle school students as they move from having one teacher in elementary school. They also begin following a math track suited to their ability levels and have options for elective courses.
Many elective offerings allow our middle school students to gain experience in areas outside of the typical academic classes. Some elective courses include drama, band, Spanish, and many others.
Our students learn to appreciate music through middle school choir as well as opportunities to participate in band or take individual music lessons. Many students will also choose to compete in our annual Fine Arts competition.
Our thriving middle school sports program allows students to take part in team sports beginning in 6th grade. Boys’ teams include soccer, basketball, and baseball. Girls’ teams include volleyball, basketball, and soccer.
Faith is central to why our school exists. Weekly chapel services help students engage and grow spiritually as they worship and learn. Aside from a chance to join voices with the high school students to worship God through song, students hear sermons from a variety of speakers throughout the year.
As a generation of “digital natives” our students are immersed in a world of technology. Teaching them to use it responsibly to benefit themselves and society is what we are tasked with. This begins with our 6th grade keyboarding class.
Students’ artistic abilities are fostered through a variety of 2D and 3D art projects. Participation in an annual state-wide Fine Arts competition motivates many students to hone their talents.
Public speaking is an extremely valuable life skill. The fact that it is also a major fear for many is our reason for helping students begin to master this skill at a young age through middle school speech classes. The benefits will last a lifetime.
